‘Israfil’ to vie at Festival Intl. du Film d’Aubagne

Iranian director Ida Panahandeh's 'Israfil’ has been accepted to compete at a French film festival.

The competition section of the 19th Festival International du Film d’Aubagne in Marseille, France, will host the Iranian film, among others, later this month.

Nine other titles from Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Bulgaria, Greece and Tunisia are slated to compete against the film from Iran.

'Israfil’ is a follow-up to Panahandeh’s first film, ‘Nahid’, both of which deal with human challenges and needs.

The Iranian flick 'Israfil’ narrates the story of a widow named Mahi, who loses her only son. An old acquaintance appears at the funeral, with emotional entanglements following three characters, which have to make decisions not only about their emotions, but also their future lives.

The Festival International du Film d’Aubagne is dedicated to the promotion of young cinematographic creation and music composition for film.

The 19th edition of the French event will be held from March 19-24, 2018.
